How to Make Hair Oils at Home for Beginners:
You must have searched the internet again and again for how to make hair oils at home. One of the questions I receive from my readers is about remedies for hair fall prevention and hair growth. So, here are some of my own tried and homemade hair treatments for beginners.
1. Onion And Coconut Herbal Hair Oil For Hair Loss:
You might be shocked to read the word ‘onion’ in the heading. Yes, onion is full of healthy nutrients essential for your hair. Onion juice is a hair strengthening natural treatment. This means that you can perform a baldness treatment with onion at your own home, with only natural ingredients. This recipe is a natural hair fall solution with onion and will help you in hair oil preparation at home
Things You Will Need:
- Coconut oil: 250 ml or 1 ½ cups
Coconut is a natural protein treatment for your hair. Some people use warm coconut oil for hair for better nourishment.
- Fenugreek seeds (Methi dana): 1 tbsp.
Known for its hair strengthening properties, fenugreek seeds are a must ingredient in all South Asian hair growth recipes. It also helps retain your hair’s natural color.
- Curry leaves: a handful
Curry leaves are a natural stimulant for hair growth. I would suggest you to use fresh curry leaves for this recipe
- Onions: 2 (chopped)
Onions are rich in sulfur which builds up hair. It’s also known for its anti-bacterial properties for your scalp.
- First of all, get your hands on pure, cold-pressed coconut oil (it is more effective than the bottled ones, trust me). Put the oil in a large pan and turn on the stove to medium-low heat.
- Chop and pound the onions to release their juices, as it makes them more effective.
- Add two handfuls of curry leaves and onions in the pan. Cook this mixture for about 30 minutes on a low flame.
- Then, add a tbsp. of fenugreek seeds to the pan and cook until the onions turn brown.
- Now turn off the stove, put a lid on the pan and let it sit overnight.
Apply this oil to your hair twice a week and keep it for at least an hour. You don't need to store it in the fridge. You can use this oil for up to 6 months. Cool right?
The only drawback of this mixture is the smell of onion, but trust me, it really works in hair growth. The fenugreek seeds and curry leaves nourish the hair roots and prevent dandruff, while coconut oil gives them shine and luster to die for!
